Today when a someone hear’s “Syria” they often think of ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria), ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and Levant), or DAESH (Arabic acronym for ISIS).  What’s commonly misunderstood is the complications of the conflict in Syria.  Today conflict in Syria is made up of civil war, war against terrorism, and proxy wars that are evolving into direct war involving nations outside of Syria. Sochi 2014: The Games to Watch

Not just watching the sports but games that may change Russia and the world

The opening ceremonies were today; about 9 hours ago.  There were technical difficulties (a snowflake didn’t turn into a ring) but they showed Russian history, culture, and pride to a stadium that wasn’t full.  There was interest; every time a country marched into the Fisht Stadium an image of the Earth from space rotated to show where it was; but not only that, Dominica, Malta, Paraguay, East Timor (Timor-Leste), Togo, Tonga and Zimbabwe were there to play in the snow.

What the big 5 in the Council say about the conflict

After the demand of the release of political prisoners in Damascus and Derra, leading to the shootings that killed protesters, a nationwide uprising slowly began  in 2011.  Today Syria has grown to an all out civil war to which around nations around the world are debating whether or not to react, including the UN Security Council – the USA, the UK, France, Russia, and China.
