PawnsIt seems as if York has decided to hold a rematch.  Although York has been struck as what many consider the strike of chess there’s never a clear winner.  Like many games before the pawns are safely being kept off of the board.

Students for Syria at York

Presently there’s a fragile truce organized led by USA with cooperation from Russia and present Syrian president Bashar al-Assad; it does not include rebels and has seen a continuation of exchange in fire. Using the truce the UN is working to bring humanitarian aid to war stricken areas. Journalists including CBC are using it to gather information and provide pictures of war-torn regions.  Throughout the war community activists to bring attention to the crisis and have created opportunities for the public to assist.  This includes students at York University.

Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Students Raising funds for Mesopotamian Refugees

York students raising funds and awareness for refugees in Iraq and Syria

A movement across Ontario, Life of a Mesopotamian Refugee, built a campaign to raise awareness and funds for refugees in Syria and Iraq, former Mesopotamia, to display the conditions refugees face to local students last week.. This movement was led by the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union (ACSSU). ACSSU has branches at McMaster University in Hamilton, and York, Brock and Ryerson Universities in Toronto. All three played a role in Life of a Mesopotamian Refugee.
