Once upon a time (not too long ago), from a land not too far away (England), Canada was ruled by an all-powerful monarch. With so many subjects and so little power to contact everyone, it was pretty hard to keep in touch.

Today, Canada’s led by Canadians—people elected by the people to rule the people. But how in touch are they with those they rule? At this very moment Canadian leaders can communicate with their Followers as rulers in no other era ever could: Twitter.

With a simple Tweet (instead of tying a scroll on the legs of a Canada goose or a loon that nips your thumbs), the rulers can send messages to anyone they wish in Canada or the world. But how many of Canada’s great leaders are really taking advantage of the voice of this new bird without wings? And how?

York Frosh: Keeping Skirts and Jeans Down at Parties

First week in and York already made the news. On  CTV: “Police [are] in search for a sexual assault suspect” for a sexual groping, “touching her in an inappropriate manner” at a Frosh party on Stong College according to the Security Bulletin released by York on September 6.  On September 18 The Excalibur reported an arrest in relation to a sexual assault on September 15.  Week three and Security Bulletin 1 is issued for its Glendon campus. But compared to what first-years learnt at the Orientation/Frosh weeks at other schools, York is “sexually tame”.

According to a poll reported by CTV/Ipsos Reid “Liberal support among decided voters at 33 per cent, [is] down three points from last month, the Conservatives [are] at 30 per cent, unchanged from last month, and the NDP up one percentage point to 28 per cent support“.
