Self-driving; closer than ever before

Cars.  They’ve become a natural part of the human habitat; you see them on the road everyday.  But there’s always someone behind the “wheel”.  There they are, watching the road, looking at the traffic lights, looking out for the buses, making sure they don’t run over someone who decided to walk, and always making sure they don’t scratch the car driving next to them that has a driver too.  Soon, the driver will become obsolete.  The car will drive itself.

O Canada; Possible Lyric Rewrite?

Gender equality, the only glitch in “O Canada”?

After a court battle in 2015 the Supreme Court gave the federal government until 6 June 2016 to create a bill legalizing Doctor Assisted Suicide.  Passing reading in the House of Commons on May 31 it is now faced by the Senate.  On May 30 Toronto Star reported Parliament would likely miss the deadline and that the Bill has brought division within Parliament as well the Liberal government.  Assisted Suicide is the prime focus of Parliament but it is expected to face a new challenge soon: O Canada.

Students for Syria at York

Student movements and campaigns for Syrians at York University

Presently there’s a fragile truce organized led by USA with cooperation from Russia and present Syrian president Bashar al-Assad; it does not include rebels and has seen a continuation of exchange in fire. Using the truce the UN is working to bring humanitarian aid to war stricken areas. Journalists including CBC are using it to gather information and provide pictures of war-torn regions.  Throughout the war community activists to bring attention to the crisis and have created opportunities for the public to assist.  This includes students at York University.
