The true free in Free Speech
Free speech; it’s a value held across many nations. It’s truly valuable.
To express your speech you need a internet access. Strangely that’s not free. But making an account on social media is still free.
To see the speech or speeches of others, even political leaders, the true embodiment of free speech you need a lot. If you sneak it in at work you are one of the truly lucky ones; you have a job and you won’t get in trouble for watching politics!
But if you (sadly) can’t watch at work you have to watch at home, in person, or on a smartphone. A home in Canada today is now anything close to free. If you do have a home you’ll need a TV. TV prices are on the rise because of inflation and tariffs; on top of that you’ll need a subscription. Whether it’s cable, satellite, streaming, or fibe, you’ll have to pay to watch the politicians talk about free speech. It’s not free to watch the politicians talk about free speech but strangely they don’t have to pay to watch their colleagues and they get paid to make speeches; they don’t have to pay for speeches but their voters do.
If you don’t have a TV or home you can always use a smartphone. Don’t forget, you’ll have to get a plan that you might not use completely (just to watch the speeches) but you’ll have to pay for it.
Don’t have TV, a home, smartphone, or the money to watch a speech? You can still find a library in a lot of places where it’s free but you have to be careful. The library lets you watch things online for free but you have to be quiet; they don’t like the speech. You can make the “speech” part of free speech on the street but be vigilant; the police are always on watch for the one like you (getting the “free” of free speech from the library and making the “speech” of free speech on the street).
If you have a boombox you can access speech for free on the radio! No subscription needed! (But you need the radio). Sadly all that speech is usually local or music.
Note: this site can publish speech but it is not free. And the radio stations have to pay rent; they give out the speech free but not produced free.
